Segrate Village

The central plaza/garden is distributional hub that connects the green spaces that branch out towards the internal courtyards of the buildings along three continuous bands. The organization of the buildings around central courts erases the distinction between main and secondary façades by creating a single one, marked out by long terraces and ample windows that run from east to west, following the arc of the sun over the course of the day. The project focuses particular attention on energy efficiency: the insulation materials and high-performance windows, the climate control system that uses ground water, and the construction of a dedicated central power plant all contribute to a significant reduction in energy consumption with respect to the current standards.
